Writer Mary Swander will read from "Heaven-and-Earth House," her new collection of poetry, at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Alumni House of Goucher College.
A poet, playwright and essayist, Ms. Swander has written two other poetry collections -- "Driving the Body Back" and "Succession" -- as well as the non-fiction "Parsnips in the Snow" and "Land of the Fragile Giants." In addition, Ms. Swander performs her own work as part of the artistic group Wild Women.

Stacy Keach as Stieglitz
Actor Stacy Keach will replace Ben Gazzara as Alfred Stieglitz, the early-20th-century photographer, in the Baltimore Center for the Performing Arts production, "Flowers and Photos: Stieglitz Loves O'Keeffe," which runs March 28-April 16 at the Morris Mechanic Theatre. Mr. Gazzara is unable to perform due to illness. Mr. Keach's stage appearances include the Tony-nominated play "The Kentucky Cycle" as well as "Richard III," "Idiot's Delight" and "Deathtrap." Art and writing competition

Open rehearsal
Christopher Seaman, conductor in residence for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, will conduct an open rehearsal of the orchestra at 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The orchestra will rehearse Saint-Saens's Violin Concerto No. 3, Still's "Song of a New Race" from Symphony No. 2 and Franck's Symphony in D minor. The soloist is violinist Elmar Oliveira. Auditions
Auditions for St. Martin's Community Theatre's May production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" are scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the theater, 375 Benfield Road in Severna Park.
