Salisbury State opens with 26-2 romp

Senior attackman Sean Radebaugh produced six goals and five assists to lead defending Division III champion Salisbury State past Hampden-Sydney, 26-2, yesterday before 978 at Sea Gull Stadium.

Radebaugh, who was three shy of the single-game points record for Salisbury State, played three quarters.

Jason Coffman had five goals and three assists.

After the teams traded goals in the first minute, the Sea Gulls (1-0) scored 23 straight goals. Ed Curry scored both goals for Hampden-Sydney (0-1).

The Sea Gulls outshot Hampden-Sydney, 48-13.

* Duke 19, Butler 4: Senior attackman Scott Harrison contributed four goals and three assists to lead host Duke. James Heavey added five goals and one assist for the Blue Devils (1-0), who outshot the Bulldogs, 44-17.

Duke had an 8-1 first-quarter lead.

* Delaware 19, Drexel 6: Senior attackman Anthony DiMarzo scored a career-high five goals to help Delaware (1-0) beat Drexel (0-1) for the 17th straight time in a North Atlantic Conference game in Villanova, Pa.

The Blue Hens, three-time defending NAC champions, extended their conference winning streak to 13 games. Drexel lost its fifth straight game dating to last season.

DiMarzo, Delaware's fourth all-time leading scorer with 180 points, had two assists to increase his career total to 116, eight shy of the school record of 124 by Rich Mills set from 1974 to '77.

* St. Mary's 16, Lynchburg 7: Dave Stark scored four goals and Dave Wenrich added three as visiting St. Mary's (1-0) topped Lynchburg (0-1).
