THE BALTIMORE SUN

Opponent: Philadelphia Wings

Site: Baltimore Arena

Time: 8

Outlook: The Thunder (3-2) can clinch one of the four Major Indoor Lacrosse League playoff spots with a win tonight over the defending league champion Wings (5-1). Baltimore, which is playing its final home game, is in second place in the standings, 1 1/2 games behind Philadelphia and Boston. The Thunder has not defeated the Wings at Baltimore Arena since sweeping them in two games in 1987, but Baltimore beat Philadelphia in a preseason scrimmage and the Thunder has won its past three, including a 14-10 win over Rochester in its previous outing. The Wings, winners of five straight, have three of the league's top seven goal scorers in Gary Gait (24), Tom Marechek (13) and John Nostrant (11).
