A bill to preserve District courts in Dundalk and Owings Mills beyond June 30, 1997, has been defeated in a 13-7 House Judiciary Committee vote, which appears to kill the issue for this year.
Del. John S. Arnick of Dundalk, a sponsor, said the Senate version of the bill still is to be voted on by the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.
But if the bill is approved in the Senate, it must go to the House where it likely will fail, he said.
State judicial officials want to eliminate rented court facilities in Owings Mills and Dundalk to save money.
