Broadneck boys take fifth place at state meet

Karl Gilliam, Pat O'Neill and Justin Gover took third, fourth and sixth, respectively, in the high jump to lead the Broadneck boys to a fifth-place finish in yesterday's Class 3A state indoor track championships at the 5th Regiment Armory.

The Bruins scored in four events, with their best finish a second-place in the 3,200 relay. Their 800 relay team also took fourth and miler David Schilling took third, five seconds off the pace.

Broadneck's girls team finished 16th, with top performances turned in by Gretchen Oaksmith (third in the mile) and Megan Burgess (sixth in the high hurdles).

Linganore won both team titles.
