Two Montgomery County men were arrested in Frederick after a truck and foot chase after the robbery of a Mount Airy 7-Eleven store about 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

State police said a man walked into the convenience store in the 1600 block of Ridgeside Drive and inquired about payment for 10 gallons of gasoline his companion was pumping into a 1992 Mazda pickup truck.

Police said the man grabbed the female clerk and told her it was a "stickup and I'm going to kill you." The man dragged the clerk behind the counter to the cash register, ordered her to open the register and scooped up money and cigarettes and ran to the truck, police said.

Police said about $65 in cash, about $30 worth of cigarettes and $10 worth of gasoline were taken in the robbery.

The employee immediately called police and Tfc. Van K. Stitcher, who was in the area, responded to the store and broadcast a description of the truck and robber.

Within minutes, the truck was observed westbound on Interstate 70, about 10 miles west of Mount Airy, by two troopers from the Frederick barracks who chased the vehicle into Frederick City.

After entering the city, the truck stopped and the driver surrendered to police.

The passenger quickly got behind the wheel and sped off, but collided with a parked automobile a short distance away.

Officers said that man fled on foot.

At 4 a.m., the second suspect walked into the Frederick City Police station and surrendered.

Police charged Paul Lawrence Neal, 20, of the 20400 block of Beallsville Road, and Dowand Cortez Dorsey, 30, of the 20500 block of Beallsville Road, both from Dickerson, with robbery, theft, conspiracy and assault. Mr. Neal was held on no bail and Mr. Dorsey was held on $50,000 bond. Traffic charges have also been placed against both men, police said.
