A man found lying unconscious on a road in Jessup early Sunday was probably the victim of a hit-and-run accident, Howard County rescue officials said.
Emergency workers found Donald Yount, a man in his 30s with no known address, in the 8300 block of Barkwood Court about 2 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Dan Merson, a spokesman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue.
A state police MedEvac helicopter flew Mr. Yount to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was in critical but stable condition yesterday. Mr. Yount has not been able to tell officers what happened, but injuries to his head and back suggest he may have been struck by a motor vehicle, Lieutenant Merson said.
Police are investigating the accident.
Masked man robs High's on U.S. 1
Howard County police are looking for a masked man who robbed a Jessup convenience store early Sunday.
Police said the man walked into the High's in the 7900 block of U.S. 1, approached a cashier and demanded money. The robber suggested that he had a gun, though he did not show one, police said.
The man fled with cash after the clerk complied. No one was injured, police said.
The man was described as a black male in his early or mid-30s, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a dark sweat shirt and a blue-and-white bandanna.
Anyone with information should call Howard County police at 313-3200 or the Metro Crime Stoppers Hot Line to qualify for a $2,000 reward.
