COPPIN STATE (16-8)
Tonight: South Carolina State (14-10), Coppin Center, 7:30, WOLB (1010 AM). First-place Coppin State (13-1 in the conference) can clinch the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament's top seed with a victory over second-place South Carolina State. The Eagles, who beat North Carolina A&T;, 80-60, on Saturday, have beaten their past seven MEAC opponents by an average of 19 points. Matt Burns scored 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead South Carolina State to a seven-point win over Morgan State on Saturday. The Bulldogs (10-3) have won two straight on the road.

Fast breaks: Coppin State won its 13th straight Saturday, defeating North Carolina A&T; to avenge its only MEAC loss. Sidney Goodman scored 33 points, including a school-record 19 of 19 free throws and four of four three-pointers. He was named MEAC men's Player of the Week. Leading 47-36, Coppin State used a 16-4 run to put the game out of reach. The Eagles have won a nation-best 29 straight at home and 45 of their past 46 regular-season MEAC games.

Tonight: Bethune-Cookman (10-14), Tawes Gymnasium, Princess Anne, 7:30 p.m. UMES (7-7 in the MEAC) is one game behind Bethune-Cookman for fourth place. Lamont Parrish's layup with five seconds left gave Bethune-Cookman (8-6) a 72-71 victory over Delaware State on Saturday. Strong led Bethune-Cookman with 22 points. Parrish added 20.

Fast breaks: UMES shot 58 percent to down Florida A&M;, 89-86, on Saturday. John Woods, who was named MEAC co-Rookie of the Week, scored 22 and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Hawks. Terrell Harris added 19 points. UMES out-rebounded the Rattlers 41-32, but was outscored 29-18 on the free-throw line.
MORGAN STATE (4-20)
Tonight: North Carolina A&T; (7-12), Hill Field House, 7:30, WEAA (88.9 FM). Morgan State (4-10 in the MEAC) has dropped eight of nine. North Carolina A&T; (8-5), the only conference team to defeat Coppin State this season, was routed by the Eagles, 80-60, Saturday, four days after losing to Georgia Tech by four.

Fast breaks: Morgan State allowed South Carolina State to shoot 64 percent from the field and fell to the Bulldogs, 94-87, on Saturday. Trailing 41-35 at the half, Morgan State cut the lead to five with 1:51 left. Jay Joyner then had three dunks and the Bears never got any closer. Paul Grant led Morgan State with 18 points and Ron James added 16. Terrence Wright had 10 rebounds for Morgan State, which made 10 of 23 three-pointers.
MOUNT ST. MARY'S (13-11)

Fast breaks: Chris McGuthrie scored 33 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 64-58 victory over league-leading Rider on Saturday in a Northeast Conference game. The Mountaineers moved to within one game of the first-place Broncs and will likely have at least one home game in the conference tournament. Mount St. Mary's struggled to a 33-27 halftime lead and maintained the slim margin in the second half. McGuthrie was the only Mount player in double figures. Matt Meakin added nine points and Randy Edney grabbed four rebounds and added five points for Mount St. Mary's.
NAVY (16-8)
Tonight: Fordham (8-13), Alumni Hall, 7:30, WNAV (1430 AM). Navy (8-4 in the Patriot League) has won six in a row and is 11-2 at home. Wes Cooper and Michael Heary scored 15 points each to lead Navy over Army, 78-69, on Wednesday. Fordham (5-6) has won three of its past five. The Rams lead the overall series rTC 18-10, but the Midshipmen have won two straight over Fordham.

TOWSON STATE (10-12)
Tonight: At UNC-Greensboro (19-5), Spectator Gym, Greensboro, N.C., 7. Towson State (4-9 in the Big South) lost to UMBC, 77-69, on Thursday. Leading scorer Ralph Blalock and second-leading scorer and top rebounder, junior forward Stevie Thomas, sat out the game with injuries. UNC-Greensboro (12-2) fell to UMBC by eight on Saturday. The Spartans were lackluster, shooting 39.3 percent from the floor.

Fast breaks: Eric Wyatt broke open a see-saw second half with eight straight points in the final minutes as UMBC (9-5 in the Big South) scored an upset victory over conference leader UNC-Greensboro, 78-70, on Saturday. The score was tied for the 10th time in the second half at 63 when Wyatt hit consecutive three-pointers and two free throws to give the Retrievers a 71-63 lead with 1:17 left. A three-pointer by Tony Daughtry cut the gap to 74-68 with 51 seconds remaining, but UMBC hit four free throws down the stretch to preserve the win before a record crowd at the Spartans' Fleming Gym.
