UMBC upends conference leader, 78-70

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Eric Wyatt scored 19 points and Marc Lay added 18, leading visiting UMBC to a 78-70 victory over first-place North Carolina-Greensboro in a Big South Conference game last night.

The Retrievers (12-12, 9-5) used 17-of-29 shooting in the second half to pull away after leading 31-30 at halftime. UMBC was also 8-for-11 from three-point range, including four of four by Wyatt.

UNC-Greensboro (19-5, 12-2), which shot 70 percent from three-point range in the first half in an 85-64 victory over UNC-Asheville on Thursday, was 8-for-22 last night.

Pascal Fleury added 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots for UMBC. Artie Walker finished with 10 and eight rebounds.

Scott Hartzell led UNC-Greensboro with 15 points and seven assists.
