O no: For Melvin, this seems like '88 all over again

THE BALTIMORE SUN

In the debate over replacement players, someone recently complained to Texas Rangers general manager Doug Melvin that this spring's version of the game isn't major-league baseball.

"In 1988," responded Melvin, who that year worked for the Orioles, "we started out 0-21 and lost 108 games. I wasn't sure we were playing major-league baseball. This might be my second tenure working with a replacement player roster."
