County police arrested an Annapolis man on battery and drug charges early yesterday after he wrecked his car at Bay Ridge Road and Chrisland Drive, authorities said.
The man lost control of his 1984 red Chevrolet Camaro after rounding a curve at 1:45 a.m., police said. The car ran off the road, hit an electric pole and a brick barrier.
The driver was "incoherent and unstable" at the scene, police said. A film canister found at the scene contained 9 1/2 grams of suspected crack cocaine, worth $950, police said. When officers questioned the man, he tried to hit one of them in the face, police said.
Leonard Henry Wilson Jr., 20, of the 200 block of Ash Lane in Annapolis was charged with battery, possession of crack cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
William Reginald Gross, 18, was trapped in the car's back seat after the wreck. He was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with back injuries, and was listed in serious condition. Police did not have his address.
