Owings Mills routs Pikesville for title 1A-2A NORTH WRESTLING

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Shaun Andoll of Owings Mills racked up an 11-1 victory over Pikesville's Jason Gelber at 160 pounds to clinch the Class 1A-2A North Region dual-meet title for the host Eagles last night.

Kirk Lurie (189) and Nick Papatonakis (Hwt.) later registered pins and Owings Mills finished with a 44-15 triumph, the second time the Baltimore County champions had beaten Pikesville this season.

In the semifinals, Owings Mills scored a 42-21 victory over North Harford, and Pikesville got a pin from heavyweight Steve Davis to hold off Fallston, 34-22.

Davis, nearly pinned early, came back to put down Rob Spurgeon at 3:00. A Spurgeon pin would have left the two sides tied, with Fallston advancing on criteria -- winning more matches.

For Owings Mills, Jimmy Hudson (26-3) had two pins at 140; Josh Elin had a pin at 130 and a technical fall at 125, and Steve Kessler (145) remained undefeated (28-0) with a pin and a major decision.

Pikesville, which has lost only to Owings Mills and Hereford, collected a forfeit at 112, and three decisions, including one by county 171 champion Chad Hipsley.
