Tavern fight leads to assault charge

A Pasadena man was charged with assault with intent to maim after a bar fight about closing time Sunday morning, county police said yesterday.

According to police, Heinz Roes was trying to break up an argument between his wife and another woman at the Wooden Nickel Bar in the 8300 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. in Pasadena. When he stepped between the two women, another man hit him in the chin with broken glass, they said.

Mr. Roes was taken to North Arundel Hospital, where he received 26 stitches to close his wound and was released.

Sean Eric Kovalick, of the 7800 block of Tick Neck Road, was arrested later on assault charges.
