Original artwork from students at Glen Burnie Park Elementary School has been reproduced on a variety of gift items including aprons, sweat shirts, T-shirts and calendars. Prices range from $2.10 to $25.20. All profits benefit the school's art program.
Art teacher Sue Owens plans to use the profits for Art Night, a showcase of student artwork scheduled for March 30.
"Each parent has the opportunity to own a wearable piece of art created by their child," Ms. Owens said. "Every item is original to their child."
Ms. Owens started the project last month. She had each draw a picture that then was forwarded to a local company that created individual magnets using the children's artwork. Parents can use the magnets to preview the designs before buying additional products.
"I'd love to see parents at the art show wearing their children's artwork," Ms. Owens said.
Order forms and a sample magnet were sent home with students. Completed forms and payment must be returned by Feb. 23. Magnets not being purchased must be returned.
For more information, call Ms. Owens at 222-6400 or Barbra Lawton at 766-7676.

Girls ages 5 to 15 are invited to participate in the "Miss Marley" contest sponsored by the Marley Area Little League. The winner will be determined based on how much money she collects during the league's fund-raiser.
"We're encouraging the girls to collect from family, friends and neighbors," said coordinator Joan McDevitt. "We're hoping local businesses will let the girls put a collection jar out at the checkout. Each jar would have the girl's name, age and a small photo."
The winner will be crowned Miss Marley Area Little League.
This year Marley Little League celebrates 40 years of providing athletic programs for area youth. In addition to baseball and softball programs, the league offers a special "Challenger" division for disabled children.
