DOVER, Del. -- Chris Nurse scored 16 points and had a career-high 17 rebounds, leading Delaware State to a 69-61 victory over Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game last night.
Delaware State (6-17, 3-10) trailed 28-27 at halftime, but took a 29-28 lead on a layup by Nurse. Delaware State pulled out to a 51-46 lead with 8:43 remaining in the second half after a layup by Steve Little and a basket and a free throw by Andre Griffin.
Morgan State (4-19, 4-9) regained the lead at 54-53 with 4:04 left on a reverse layup by Terrance Wright. With the game tied at 55, layups by Little and Griffin put Delaware State ahead, 59-55.
Nurse, the conference's leading rebounder, had nearly half (17) of Delaware State's 42 rebounds, in comparison to 31 for Morgan State. Martin Moore had 11 points for Delaware State.
Wright and Paul Grant (Carver) led Morgan State with 16 points each. The Bears have lost seven of their past eight games.
