For the first time in his career, Maryland junior guard Johnny Rhodes has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week. Rhodes helped the seventh-ranked Terrapins to a pair of victories last week, including an 86-73 upset of then-No. 1 North Carolina.
In the two games, Rhodes averaged 19.5 points, seven rebounds, five assists, 2.5 blocks and one steal. Against the Tar Heels, Rhodes scored 21 points by hitting eight of 11 shots from the field, including four of five three-pointers, and led the team back from an early 14-point deficit. In an 80-65 win Saturday over Florida State, Rhodes finished with 18 points and six assists.
