Spring registration will begin for athletic clubs in the area

The Gambrills baseball club is holding registration from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Gambrills Athletic Club on McKnew Road in Gambrills. Registration is free. The club is the oldest baseball club in Maryland. For more information, call Jeff Lloyd at 674-7260.

Spring registration for girls and boys athletics will be held from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday at Arundel Middle School, 1170 Hammond Lane, Odenton. Fees are $35 for one child in a family, $10 for the second and $5 for each additional child.

The Greater Odenton Improvement Association will hold its general membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Odenton Fire hall, Route 175. Jay Schwarz from the Severn River Commission and Dave Blaha from Environmental Resource Management will give a briefing on the Severn River Water Shed Management Study.

Sam Minnitte, a county land use official, and Richard Howell, Department of Defense base transition coordinator, will discuss the status of Tipton Airfield.

The meeting is open to the public.

Odenton Elementary School in conjunction with McDonald's at 1502 Annapolis Road will hold "Principal's Night" from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow. Barbara SanGabino, the school's principal, will be behind the counter to serve you. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to Odenton Elementary.

The Children's Theater of Annapolis will present "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" as its spring offering. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 10, 11, 17 and 18 and at 2 p.m. March 12 and 19. Tickets cost $6.

Opening night is Student Night. Tickets will be $5 for those who bring a student ID. On March 17, anyone wearing green gets a ticket for only $5. Group rates also are available.

"The Mystery of Edwin Drood" is a musical based on the novel by Charles Dickens. The play ends with the audience solving the mystery.

Cast members include Brock Ballard, Danny Byrnes, Chris Cox, Chris Dahl, Pat Dorian, Nicole Ensey, Travis Jennings, Abby Mott and Karen Zucco from Arundel High School; Diana Dulin from Old Mill Middle North; and Danny Sonntag from Old Mill Middle South. Several of the children have leads in the show. The others are in the chorus.

Parents And Children Together, a program for parents with children from 18 months to 3 years old, is returning to Odenton Elementary School, 1290 Odenton Road. Don't miss this chance to get together with other parents and learn new ways to raise children. Child care will be available.

Arundel High School has announced that seniors Carmen Cruz and Gwen Dulla have been selected as pages for the 1995 Maryland General Assembly. The pair will fill two of the 10 spaces allotted for Anne Arundel County and will help the county's senators and delegates during the legislative session. Congratulations and best wishes to both of these young ladies.

The Odenton library, 1270 Odenton Road, is holding half-hour story time sessions for children ages 2 to 6 starting at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. Wednesdays from March 7 to April 12. Children ages 2 and 3 must be accompanied by parents.
