Loyola's Patty Stoffey become the state's all-time leading women's college basketball scorer yesterday, surpassing Renie Amoss' record with a jump shot at 14:52 of the first half of the Greyhounds' 94-77 loss to host Fairfield.
Stoffey, who also holds 15 school records, finished the game with 20 points for a career total of 2,236. Amoss, who died in a car accident in 1993, scored 2,220 points at Goucher from 1988 to 1992.
Lauren Reitwiesner and Christine Fryer each scored 15 points to lead Fairfield (11-9, 6-3).
Fairfield extended its 45-32 halftime lead by going on a 13-4 run in the first 3:30 of the second half. Carla Johns scored eight of her 11 points during the run.
Patty Taylor paced Loyola (13-7, 4-5) with a career-high 25 points.
* Frostburg State 78, Emmanuel 71: Kara Reed scored 19 points and Kim McMorris added 16 as Frostburg State defeated Emmanuel College in the second round of the Marymount Tournament in Arlington, Va.
Frostburg State led, 37-19, at halftime before withstanding a 52-41 second-half rally by Emmanuel.
Jessica Cabrera led Emmanuel with 19 points and Nichulva Williams added 10.

* Chowan 103, Villa Julie 56: Herman Jordan scored 26 points as host Chowan College (8-13) downed Villa Julie (10-7) in Murfreesboro, N.C. Donte Dudley (Woodlawn) led Villa Julie with 20 points.
