An Annapolis man was seriously injured yesterday in a single-car accident on U.S. 50, state police said.
Mark Anthony Machem, 28, was eastbound on U.S. 50 near Route 2 at about 7 a.m. when he fell asleep, state police said. His car struck a guardrail, and Mr. Machem was thrown through the windshield of his 1986 Subaru, police said.
He was flown by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was being treated for head and neck injuries. He was listed yesterday in fair and stable condition.
