* Howard County took delivery of its first aerial ladder fire engine. The truck's ladder could be extended up to 100 feet, a necessity in the rapidly growing county.
* It was announced that the completion of Harper's Choice Village Center would be delayed by several months because of the county's refusal to allow Howard Research and Development (HRD) to close Cedar Lane. 50 Years Ago (Week of Feb. 4-10, 1945):
* Edward W. Talbott, 72, former president of the Patapsco National Bank, and member of the firm of E. A. Talbott, died this week following a short illness. An 1892 graduate of Rock Hill College, Mr. Talbott also had worked for many years as a clerk and teller at the Drovers and Mechanics Bank in Baltimore.
