Webb's 18, late layup help No. 9 St. Frances past Mercy, 43-41

Kristi Webb scored 18 points to help No. 9 St. Frances hold off visiting Mercy, 43-41, in a girls basketball game yesterday. Webb's layup with less than a minute gave the Panthers (15-7) a 43-37 lead.

Melba Chambers added 13 points for St. Frances. Meg Kline led the Sharpshooters with 14 points.

* Franklin 49, Perry Hall 40: Sharee Lewis scored 16 to lead host Franklin (13-3) past Perry Hall (9-6). Ivy Hailey and Jill Smith each contributed 10 points for the Indians.

* Lake Clifton 77, Patterson 46: Jinika Conley, DaShawn Coleman and Natisha Ferguson combined for 60 points as No. 3 Lake Clifton (12-2) topped visiting Patterson. The Lakers' Lashina Gross, who had 13 points, also scored her 1,000th career point.

* Arundel 66, Chesapeake-AA 29: Chavonne Hammond scored 20 points to lead No. 8 Arundel (18-0) over host Chesapeake-AA (7-11). Sandra Norris scored 16 points for the Cougars.

* Towson 81, Sparrows Point 17: Nicki Ramer and Katie Walker each scored 19 points as No. 11 Towson (16-0) defeated Sparrows Point (6-10).

* Randallstown 63, Dundalk 29: Sophomore Katrina Johns scored 18 points in leading No. 17 Randallstown (17-2) over visiting Dundalk.

* Meade 61, Northeast 54: Tamara Washington scored 17 as Meade (6-12) defeated Northeast (10-8). Jen Johansen scored 20 to lead the Eagles.

* Broadneck 56, South River 27: Jill Smith had 13 points and seven assists as Broadneck (13-5) moved past visiting South River (2-16). The Bruins ran out to a 31-10 halftime lead.

* Dunbar 42, Douglass 35: Dawn Pope scored 11 to lead visiting Dunbar over Douglass. Tanisha Davenport added 10 points for the Poets.

* Edmondson 51, Mervo 47: Emily Jones had 25 points and 17 rebounds as Edmondson (9-6) topped visiting Mervo (9-6) and tied the Mustangs for fifth place in the 3A-4A North Region. Kenya Langley produced eight points and nine assists for the Redskins.

* Loch Raven 66, Owings Mills 37: Kelly Powell scored 21 points as Loch Raven defeated host Owings Mills (7-10). Dana Herrmann led the Eagles with 12 points.

* Parkville 56, Patapsco 42: Latanya Jones scored 21 points to lead host Parkville (11-5) over Patapsco (5-12).

* Milford Mill 72, Carver A&T; 31: Keisha Watkins scored 19 points and Tenia Stuckey added 18 points to lead Milford Mill (10-5) over host Carver A&T; (5-11).

* Hereford 61, Pikesville 54: Melinda Sawyer scored 17 points as visiting Hereford topped Pikesville.

* Kenwood 52, Woodlawn 38: Kelli Mull scored 21 points to pace Kenwood over host Woodlawn.

* Chesapeake-BC 51, Overlea 19: Tanya Kelley scored 22 points in leding host Chesapeake-BC over Overlea.

* Catoctin 74, Francis Scott Key 40: Liz McCurdy scored 27 points to lead host Catoctin over Francis Scott Key (6-10). Maureen Ritcey led Francis Scott Key with nine points.

lard scored 11 to lead Chapelgate over host Rock Church for a share of the Maryland Christian Athletic League title. Brouillard made three of her four three-point shots.

* Mount Carmel 30, Sts. Peter and Paul 26: Erin Reed scored 12 to pace host Mount Carmel (18-4) past Sts. Peter and Paul (16-5). Larissa Paulina added 10 for the Cougars.

* Spalding 62, John Carroll 53: Stephanie Paxson scored 16 points to lead host Spalding over John Carroll. Paxson also added five assists and grabbed five rebounds.

* Harford Christian 63, Pompei 17: Jennifer Loewenstein scored 16 and Jettie Moir added 14 as Harford Christian (14-5) defeated visiting Pompei (1-16). Liz Berens scored 10 to lead the Lions.
