From a live "radiothon" to a rock-and-roll flea market, here are some highlights of what's coming up around the radio dial:
* Sister stations V-103 (WXYV-FM, 102.7) and WCAO-AM (600) are broadcasting live from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today from Reisterstown Road Plaza, presenting Ujima '95, a radiothon supporting the Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America and Uniting for Life, Inc.
The fund-raiser -- featuring entertainment, celebrities and prizes -- was postponed from last weekend because of snow.
Planners hope to attract volunteers to increase the base of African-American bone marrow donors, necessary to fight such diseases as sickle cell anemia, Hodgkin's disease and leukemia. Call (410) 825-2500.
* "Good Time Oldies" WQSR-FM (105.7) gets a little older than usual next week, with nightly music mostly from the '50s.
Doo-wop devotee Alan Lee, host of the Sunday show "Forgotten is filling in for Kauleen Sharp in the 7 p.m.-to-midnight slot Monday through Friday, and plans five theme nights of '50s fare.
On Monday, he'll spin rarely heard original versions of well-known songs; Tuesday, Valentine's Day, brings love songs; Wednesday counts down the top 20 hits in Baltimore in February 1959; Thursday charts the top 20 soul songs of February 1964 and Friday is wall-to-wall doo-wop.
* Stand by for Ellen. The new "Ellen Sauerbrey Show," with the former Republican candidate for Maryland governor, debuts at 8 p.m. Monday on WBAL-AM (1090). And take note, "The Ron Smith Show" moves to the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. afternoon drive-time slot.
* "One big hunk of hidden fruit." That's what a fan once called Elvis Presley, according to Patrick Higgens, author of "Before Elvis There Was Nothing," one of the scheduled guests on a Valentine's Day broadcast of the "Zoh Hieronimus Show" titled "Elvis as Musician and Elvis as Saint." This edition of Ms. Hieronimus' show will be broadcast from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday on WCBM-AM (680).
Mr. Higgins will take calls from listeners in the first hour. In the second hour, Gary Vikan, director of the Walters Art Gallery, will explore the Elvis phenomenon, measuring the star from Tupelo, Miss., against the accepted saints of history.
* Freshman U.S. Congressman Robert Ehrlich, a Baltimore County Republican, is the scheduled guest on "The Marc Steiner Show" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, on WJHU-FM (88.1).
* "Uncommon Valor on Iwo Jima" is the latest World War II 50-year remembrance special from talk show host Les Kinsolving. It will air at 9 p.m. Thursday on WCBM-AM (680).
Zgraflead,0 * More rock and roll from the past: Annapolis progressive rock station WRNR-FM (103.1) is planning the area's first "Rock N' Roll Music Expo" later this month.
The swap meet is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 25 and 26, at the Annapolis Elks Lodge, at Taylor Avenue and Rowe Boulevard.
"We think it's the area's, and maybe the country's, biggest. It's all stuff that has to do with rock and roll," says promotions director Ken Kandell, listing exhibitors of posters, recordings, instruments, jukeboxes, souvenir clothing and other memorabilia.
