Tomorrow is Souper Saturday at Jenkins Memorial Church in Riviera Beach. The congregation's Ways and Means Committee is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat dinner from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the church hall on Riviera Drive at Jenkins Road.
The menu features 11 homemade soups, including chicken noodle, crab, 15 bean, minestrone and chili. The meal will be served with French bread, dessert and refreshments.
The cost for adults is $5. Children ages 5 to 12 get in for $2. Youngsters under age 5 can eat for free. Proceeds will benefit the church's building fund.

The Pasadena Sportfishing Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Orchard Beach fire hall on Solley Road. The group also has instituted a "No Smoking" policy for its monthly meetings.
"We polled several of the smoking and nonsmoking members of our group and we reached an agreement on this new policy for the health of all of our members," said George Bentz, group spokesman.
Gary Diamond, field editor from The Fisherman, a weekly magazine dedicated to anglers, will present an entertaining slide show on fishing from the Susquehanna River to Cape Charles. An auction is scheduled after the meeting, subject to item availability.
A dinner menu featuring a hot beef platter or pasta and meatballs, hamburgers, hot dogs, desserts, and refreshments will be on sale before the meeting.
Proceeds benefit the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Parents of students in the Northeast, Chesapeake and North County feeder systems are invited to a briefing on proposed school redistricting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Northeast High School auditorium.
The briefing gives the community a chance to listen as school officials and members of the county schools redistricting committee explain the report and its recommendations.
The public is invited to ask questions about the recommendations.
No written or verbal testimony will be accepted. No group presentations or individual presentations will be allowed.
A hearing on the recommendations is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 13.

Bodkin Elementary PTA's next general meeting at the school on Ventnor Road promises to be a worthwhile session.
Robert Sweet, president of the National Right to Read Foundation, will discuss the benefits of teaching children to read by using the fundamentals of phonics and good literature.
The foundation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating illiteracy.
"Among other things, the foundation is on the cutting edge of educating the Congress, state legislatures, local school boards, textbook committees and the general public," said Nancy Schrum, PTA president.
Joseph Czarnecki, reading coordinator for county public schools, will be on hand to answer any questions about the language arts curriculum.

Lake Shore Baptist Church has planned a morning of workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the church, 4613 Mountain Road.
