Commissioners vote to buy land off Route 97
Carroll County Commissioners voted 2-0 yesterday to buy 14.5 acres off Route 97 in Westminster to use to extend Kate Wagner Road and as a possible site for a new vocational-technical education building.
Commissioners W. Benjamin Brown and Donald I. Dell voted to pay Kenneth M. and Mary E. Barnes $121,300 for the land, which is east of Route 97 and south of Woodland Drive.
Commissioner Richard T. Yates is on vacation.
Public works officials plan to extend Kate Wagner Road from Route 97 to Hook Road in about five years. A plan for a new vo-tech school is not in the county's six-year capital plan.
