Westminster Fire Engine and Hose Company No. 1 recently installed new officers for 1995 and presented a number of awards at its annual banquet.
Mike Garber was awarded Firefighter of the Year for the number of calls he responded to and for his work with fund-raisers and other activities.
The Maryland State Police and State Fire Marshal presented plaques to the company for its work in the community.
The ladies auxiliary gave the company $2,000 for fire suppression and $5,000 for other needs.
Length of Service awards went to Gene Bauerline, Charles Simpson, Rick Markline, Mike Garber and Mike Stoner.
Other service awards went to: Bill Sauble, 40 years; David Babylon, 45 years; Norman Ogg, 50 years; Herb Corbin and Richard Gehr, 55 years.

* Westminster: A resident of West Main Street reported to city police someone shattered the driver's window of his auto while it was parked at his house Saturday. He estimated the damage at $350.
Another resident of West Main Street told city police someone shattered the front window of his home Saturday. He estimated the damage at $100.
A resident of Pleasanton Road reported to city police someone broke into his auto and stole a citizens band radio and several cassette tapes. The --board was damaged when the radio was removed. The theft and damage is estimated at $220.
A resident of Lake Way told city police someone broke into his auto and stole property while the vehicle was parked near his house Saturday. He estimated the theft at $126.
A resident of John Street reported to city police someone broke into his auto and stole property valued at $100 Saturday.
A resident of Timber Ridge Drive told city police someone stole her 1984 Buick Skylark while it was parked near her home Friday.
An employee of Humphrey Construction of Silver Spring reported to city police someone stole building materials from a site on Medinah Circle on Friday. He estimated the theft at $500.
A resident of Charles Street reported to city police someone threw a ball of dirt and broke a window of her living room Friday. She estimated the vandalism at $150.
A resident of Wentz Road near Manchester told city police someone broke the door of a building he owns on East Main Street and stole items Thursday. He estimated the burglary at $200.

* Deer Park: Gamber responded to an emergency water detail in the 1800 block of Deer Park Road at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 41 minutes.
Reese and Gamber responded to a chimney fire in the 2200 block of Sykesville Road at 5:32 p.m. Saturday. Units were out for 46 minutes.
* Finksburg: Reese responded for a sign on fire in the 2900 block of Baltimore Blvd. at 8:53 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for 30 minutes.
