Montreal Expos -- Named Jim Gabella manager and Butch Hughes pitching coach at Single-A Vermont and Rock Sofield manager, Mitch Zwolensky pitching coach and Luis Dorante coach for the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League team.

San Francisco Giants -- Terminated Strawberry's contract.

Southern League (Double-A) -- Announced that Carolina Mudcats owner Steve Bryant will operate the new Wilmington, N.C., franchise during the next two years under a management agreement with Wilmington owner Dennis Bastien.

Frontier League -- Awarded a franchise to Richmond, Ind.
