Today Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church assumes operation of the YWCA Preschool Program that has been at the church since 1973.
The church's administrative board decided recently to include the preschool in its ministry to children and young families.
"The school will be geared toward the developmental stages of the preschool child -- physical, cognitive and psychomotor," said Brenda Stephens, the program's director. "The quality and reputation of our preschool will continue."
Darlene Szczeszek and Judy Bolly are also on the staff.
Registration is being held for the 1995-1996 school year. To be eligible for the class for 3-year-olds, a child must be 3 by Dec. 31 and toilet trained. They will attend class Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours in the mornings or afternoons.
To be eligible for the class for 4-year-olds, children must turn 4 by Dec. 31 and be toilet trained. They will attend class Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the mornings or afternoons for 2 1/2 hours.

The community is invited to attend a showing of "The Dave Dravecky Story" at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall of St. John Lutheran Church. The screening is sponsored by the Christian Education Committee. The film depicts the inspirational story of Mr. Dravecky, a baseball pitcher who lost his arm to cancer. You will hear how his Christian faith helped him overcome great obstacles.
Refreshments will be served after the movie. Admission is free. St. John's is at 300 West Maple Road.

A brief executive board meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the school's band room. All interested parents are encouraged to attend.
The next Market Day delivery will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. If you placed an order, please pick it up at this time or arrange for someone to pick up the order.
Students and parents are urged to come in from the cold and enjoy an evening of tropical surprises at the Burger King Night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 15. Linthicum students will be given "No Homework" passes when they attend.

Erwin Abrams, president of Hospice of the Chesapeake, will be the guest speaker. He will update the community on the county's plans to deed the old health center on South Camp Meade Road to the hospice. The organization wants to turn the center into a small group home for terminally ill patients who do not have friends or family to care for them.
Suzanne Schapport and Richard Gouch of the Enforcement Division of the county's Planning and Zoning Office also will be on hand to answer questions about zoning violations and submitting complaints.

A briefing on proposed school redistricting plans will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Northeast High School's auditorium.
The public will have a chance to hear school staff and redistricting committee members explain the report and its recommendations. You also can ask questions about the report. No written or verbal testimony by groups or individuals will be taken during the briefing. The meeting's snow date is Feb. 15.
The public can offer verbal or written testimony during the hearing scheduled for 7 p.m. March 13. Written testimony is encouraged because it gives Board of Education members more time to study the remarks. No snow date has been set.
