Owings Run

1. Macks Homes has begun construction of the 234 garden units that will make up Section II at Owings Run Apartments, named Best Luxury Apartments of 1994 by the Apartment Builders and Owners Council of the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

Macks Homes is taking applications for Section II, which is expected to be ready for occupancy March 15. In addition, 20 units are still available in Section I.

The largest apartment available at Owings Run has 1,260 square feet of living space and a monthly rental of $859 a month.

Most apartments have two master bedroom suites with two full baths, a den, a 14-by-14-foot living room, 12-by-12-foot dining room and 11-by-11-foot kitchen. Apartments without a den have 1,160 square feet and rent for $769.

All units have walk-in closets, washer and dryer, gas heat, free cable TV and secured entrances.

The rental office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Ashford Oaks

Bozzuto Custom Homes opened its Chapel Hill model Tuesday at Ashford Oaks in the Berry Road area of Charles County, where the firm is offering six styles of houses without basements -- basements cost another $7,000. Other models are expected to open by summer.

The Chapel Hill is a Colonial with 2,450 square feet on two floors and a beginning price of $196,900.

The first floor has a 24-by-12-foot kitchen/breakfast nook, 19-by-14-foot family room, 12-by-15-foot living room, 12-by-13-foot dining room, 13-by-10-foot library and powder room.

Upstairs the master suite has a 17-by-13 foot bedroom, 7-by-12-foot walk-in closet and bath with tub/shower, dual vanities and private toilet. There are three additional bedrooms and a full hall bath.

The Chapel Hill has a country-style front porch, two-car garage ,, and gas heat and hot water.

Starting at $179,900 for 1,850 square feet, the Annapolis is Bozzuto's least expensive home at Ashford Oaks. A two-story house, it can have three or four bedrooms.

At 3,600 square feet and a $224,900 price tag, the Windsor is the largest house the builder is offering in this community.
