Nourse named fiscal services director

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Gregory V. Nourse, a county budget analyst, has been appointed the Board of Education's director of fiscal services.

Mr. Nourse, 46, is well known to school officials, having been assigned to work with them on their capital budget for the past seven years and on their operating budget for the past four years.

"I probably know more about the board's budget than anyone from the outside," he said.

Mr. Nourse was appointed by school Superintendent Carol S. Parham and approved by the school board. His salary is still being negotiated; he will receive between $54,000 and $81,000.

He replaces Eugene F. "Jack" White, who had been the budget officer for the school system since 1980. Mr. White said the prospect of shepherding a 25th budget through the system was too much for him.

A Crofton resident, Mr. Nourse holds a master's degree from the University of Baltimore and a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, Cortland.

Mr. Nourse said he will start in his new position within the next two weeks.
