The February sweeps are in full swing, with the networks throwing out their best bait to lure viewers.
* "Mad About You" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., Channel 11) -- Perhaps because this show sees more comic possibilities when it looks back than when it looks ahead, "Mad About You" recounts the months leading up to the wedding of Paul and Jamie (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt). NBC.
* "Seinfeld" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., Channel 11) -- In this one-hour "Seinfeld," the folks behind "Seinfeld" celebrate their 100th episode. It's done with a retrospective look that, in part, collects famous bits of business and catch phrases. Not that there's anything wrong with that. NBC.
* "The Commish" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., Channel 2) -- "The Commish" takes up a suicide mission beginning tonight, going opposite "Seinfeld." It's possible, though, that this action series will take second in the time slot and be a good fit with "Matlock." ABC.
* "The Future of Public TV" (10:30 p.m.-11 p.m., Channels 22, 67) -- Maryland Public Television plugs into the debate about its fate when MPT President Raymond Ho joins this discussion of federal funding of public broadcasting. Also on the program, which originally aired on National Empowerment Cable, are Laurence Jarvik from L.A.'s Center for the Study of Popular Culture and reporters John Harter and Mary Bush. MPT.
* "E.R." (10 p.m.-11 p.m., Channel 11) -- This episode of "E.R." is a typically fluid one, bouncing from room to room and case to case with hardly a moment to breathe -- except when visiting an eccentric, sheet-covered patient (Bobcat Goldthwait) who insists he's been dead for two days. There's a snake in the E.R. this week, and a gun, and, as one staffer notes, a general level of "madness." Linda Kelsey of "Lou Grant" guest stars. NBC.
* "Day One" (10 p.m.-11 p.m., Channel 2) -- Correspondent John McKenzie presents a report on retired Army Col. James "Bo" Gritz, who is gathering followers for a paramilitary retreat in Idaho. Moments in this report, when Mr. McKenzie confronts Mr. Gritz, feel like vintage "60 Minutes," and Mr. Gritz's threat to Mr. McKenzie is as scary as it is oblique: "I'll treat you like Geraldo Rivera was never treated." ABC.

* "The Vikings" (10:40 p.m.-1:10 a.m., TNT) -- Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis and the Norway scenery co-star in this 1958 costume epic.
