Pair arrested in park on drug charges

A man and woman from Edgewater were arrested Monday night on drug charges after a Southern District officer found suspected PCP in a truck they were sitting in at Carr's Wharf Park on the Rhode River, county police said.

Officer Robert Lose was checking the park near Carr's Wharf Road and Cadle Creek Road about 8 p.m. when he saw the 1986 Ford pickup truck. When he saw that the man behind the wheel and a woman passenger had beer, He ordered them out and arrested them on charges of being in the park after dark and for having alcohol in the park, police said.

When Officer Lose searched the truck, he found suspected PCP in a canister, a partially smoked cigarette containing suspected PCP and a pipe. Police found a second canister containing suspected PCP on the woman when she was searched at the Southern District station, police said.

Jack Louis Pate Jr., 51, of the 3800 block of Holly Drive, and Kathleen Anne Adams, 24, of the 3900 block of Germantown Road, were each charged with possession of PCP, possession of drug paraphernalia, being in a county park after dark and possessing an alcoholic beverage in a county park, police said.
