BALTIMORE CITY
* ROBBERY TRY: Northern District -- A 43-year-old resident of the 2400 block of Shirley Ave. was walking in the 4000 block of Cottage Ave. Tuesday when a man tried to steal her purse. When the woman pulled her purse away, the man struck her on the head and fled.
* THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- A 36-year-old man was arrested Tuesday when he attempted to leave the Giant food store in the 700 block of W. 40th St. without paying for two boxes of candy valued at $26.
* THEFT: Northern District -- A jacket, purse, backpack, shoes, five compact discs, money and other items, all valued at more than $800, were stolen Tuesday from a car parked in the 400 block of E. Belvedere Ave.
* THEFT: Northern District -- A portable TV was stolen from a 1984 Honda parked Tuesday in the first block of E. 25th St.
* THEFT: Northern District -- Tools of unknown value were stolen Tuesday from a car parked in the 600 block of E. 27th St.
* ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 72-year-old woman was walking in the 2600 block of N. Charles St. Tuesday when two men pushed her down and stole her purse containing a small amount of money.
* PURSE SNATCH: Northern District -- A 30-year-old resident of the 4000 block of St. Georges Road was in the 4100 block of The Alameda Tuesday when a man robbed her of property valued at $35.
* ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A gunman took jewelry and cash, all valued at nearly $700, from a resident of the 4400 block of Old Frederick Road, who was walking.
BALTIMORE COUNTY
* BURGLARY: North Point Precinct -- Copper wire worth $200 and wire connectors valued at more than $1,100 were stolen Tuesday from Jaegers Inc. in the 7900 block of Eastern Blvd.
* THEFT/ARRESTS: North Point Precinct -- A 30-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday when she attempted to leave the Sears store at the Eastpoint Mall in the 7800 block of Eastern Ave. without paying for more than $100 worth of blue jeans. In a separate incident, a 29-year-old city man was also arrested Tuesday when he attempted to leave the store without paying for tools valued at nearly $63.
* THEFT: North Point Precinct -- A city man was arrested Tuesday when he tried to leave the J.C. Penney store at the Eastpoint Mall in the 7800 block of Eastern Ave. without paying for merchandise valued at about $127.
* STOLEN CAR: North Point Precinct -- A 1993 Dodge Shadow with tags ZMS 270 and valued at $14,000 was stolen Tuesday from the 7700 block of Dory Lane.
* BURGLARY: Woodlawn Precinct -- A radio, ring, video game, a video game controller and videotapes were stolen Tuesday from a home in the 6700 block of Brompton Road.
