It's a slow night on TV -- but for once, I'm not complaining. After so many days on "O. J. watch," I could use a slow night.
* "Women of the House" (8 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Channel 13) -- The plot of tonight's show has Jennifer (Julie Hagerty) deciding to change her image. Since Ms. Hagerty joined the cast only a week ago, isn't it a little presumptuous to figure she even has an image? CBS.
* "ABC News Special" (10 p.m.-11 p.m., Channel 2) -- The title of this special is "Boys and Girls Are Different: Men, Women and the Sex Difference." In it, correspondent John Stossel pinpoints and examines several ways in which men and women behave and react differently. Just like the kind of story you'd expect from a male TV reporter. ABC.
* "Northern Exposure" (10 p.m.-11 p.m., Channel 13) -- Debra Mooney guest stars as Maggie's mother and has a mother-daughter chat with Maggie (Janine Turner) that reveals, among other things, that they have similarly bad luck with men. CBS.

* "Real Life" (8 p.m.-10 p.m., COM) -- This rarely televised documentary spoof is a quiet, little classic. Albert Brooks, poking fun at documentary filmmakers and himself with equal glee, reacted to the 1973 PBS documentary series "An American Family" by using the same premise in a comedic context in 1979: descending upon a "typical American family" to document its every move with cameras and microphones. Penelope Spheeris produced "Real Life," Harry Shearer co-wrote it with Monica Johnson and Mr. Brooks, who also directed it and co-stars as himself. Charles Grodin stars as Warren, the hapless patriarch, and James L. Brooks has a featured role.
* "The Sting" (8:05 p.m.-10:35 p.m., TBS) -- Another fine film, this one with a much bigger budget and cast. Robert Redford and Paul New man, fresh off "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," reteamed for this 1973 con-artist comedy-drama that was anything but a letdown. Scott Joplin's music got a big boost from this soundtrack, but Robert Shaw, as the major villain, had to wait until 1975, with "Jaws," for his own major career boost.
* "We Are the World: 10th Anniversary" (9 p.m.-9:40 p.m., DIS) -- Otherwise known as: "As the World Turns 10."
* "A Vow To Kill" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., USA) -- This new USA Network made-for-TV movie stars Richard Grieco as a new husband who's not as good as he seems, and Julianne Phillips as a new wife who, like this made-for-TV movie, is even more stupid than you might imagine.
