Loyola dealt 85-56 drubbing by Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. -- Aeshimu Evans scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds, leading Manhattan to an 85-56 victory over Loyola in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game last night.

Loyola (5-11, 1-3) tied it at 25 with 3:39 to play in the first half on John McDonald's 18-foot jumper. But Manhattan (15-2, 4-1) went on a 12-2 run to take a 37-27 halftime lead. The Jaspers led 56-33 with 11:39 remaining after a three-pointer by Geronimo Bucero.

Loyola cut the lead to 57-46 with 9:52 remaining, but Manhattan had a 14-1 run, capped by Jamal Marshall's layup with 3:10 left.

Senior center Virgil Wallace scored a career-high 14 points and had 10 rebounds for Loyola. Matt Gabriel added 13 points and David Credle had 11. B. J. Pendleton and McDonald combined to score only 10 points for the Greyhounds.
