Lucille Maurer, the first woman to serve as Maryland's state treasurer, won a third, four-year term yesterday.
State lawmakers selected Mrs. Maurer, 72, a former Montgomery County delegate, to manage the state's investments.
She also will represent the legislature as one of three members, along with the governor and comptroller, on the Board of Public Works. The panel oversees all major state contracts.
Mrs. Maurer received the support of 135 of the state's delegates and senators. Former Delegate John W. Douglass, a Baltimore Democrat, received 45 votes. Two votes went to Delegate Richard N. Dixon, D-Carroll, even though he withdrew from the race late Thursday.
