Howard edges UMES in OT

Art Crowder scored 17 points to lead Howard University to a 76-75 overtime win over host UMES (6-10, 2-4) yesterday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.

With 13 seconds left in overtime, Terrell Harris had a chance to tie the game for the Hawks, but missed two free throws.

Harris led the UMES with 23 points. Kenya Mobley added 18.

* Frostburg State 67, Juniata 40: Damon Stevenson scored 18 points to help Frostburg State to a rout over host Juniata College.

Scott Newman went 4-for-5 on three-pointers to contribute 15 points for the Bobcats (9-4). Juniata fell to 2-11.

* Essex CC 117, Potomac State 95: Dominique Minor (City College) scored 26 to lead Essex Community College (13-4) over visiting Potomac State (W.Va.). Essex's Walter Wright added 24 points and seven assists.

Women

* Delaware State 82, Morgan State 76: Alfreda Jefferson scored 21 points to lead visiting Delaware State (4-7, 2-3) over Morgan State (1-10, 1-3) in an MEAC game.

Tanya Williams scored 21 points and added 11 rebounds to lead the Golden Bears. Courtney Warfield added 18 points for Morgan State.

* Howard 107, UMES 61: Alisha Hill scored a game high 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Howard University over host UMES in an MEAC game.

Robin Pettit led the Hawks with 16 points and seven rebounds.
