Jan. 8: Communication by the magnetic telegraph with Washington was interrupted yesterday in consequence of some accident having occurred to the wires on some part of the route; it is supposed that they have been broken by a tree or branch blown across them during the storm Monday night.
Jan. 9: From the manner in which the drays and carts occasionally go down Baltimore Street, one might suppose that the drivers had chartered the streets for a race course.

Jan. 8: Susan Cornish, colored, made all the arrangements to hold an entertainment, which was to coincide with a cakewalk, last night, at her home, 711 West Street.
Jan. 14: A tiny newsboy sat on the stage of the Lyceum Theatre last night as one of the object-lessons of an address by Rev. Walter Vrooman on "How to Eat." The address was the first in a course before the People's Congregation on practical subjects.

Jan. 8: M. Courtney Jenkins, perennial engrossing clerk of the State Senate who made his life a unique compound of dogs and baseball, horse racing and neighborhood politics, died early yesterday at the Mercy Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
