In case you're curious about the auto and other motor-type shows that usually rev up this time each year, mark these dates on your calendar:

Motorcycle show: Jan. 13-15 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Details next week.

Chesapeake Bay boat show: Jan. 28 through Feb. 7, also at the Convention Center. Details to come.

International car show: For years, the area's big auto show has jammed the Convention Center and adjacent Festival Hall. But with the Convention Center's heavy-duty expansion continuing where the hall once was, there's not enough space. So you'll need to drive (or take light rail) to the auto show at the Timonium State Fairgrounds on Feb. 4-12.
