A new 18-foot by 25-foot American flag was raised Friday to replace one stolen in November from a flagpole at the W & W Tire and Auto Service in Finksburg.
Joe Emery, company service manager, said the $850 nylon flag was placed on the 60-foot pole with the aid of the ladder truck from Glyndon Volunteer Fire Co. from Baltimore County.
Mr. Emery said the stolen flag, which was illuminated and flown 24 hours a day, was attached to the pole about 10 feet above the ground.
The new one will be attached higher to help prevent another theft, Mr. Emery said.
