A man who tried to rob a Laurel 7-Eleven store Monday night went away empty-handed after the clerk called 911, county police said.
The man walked into the store, in the 3400 block of Fort Meade Road, about 11:30 p.m. He held his hand in his pocket and implied that he had a gun as he demanded money. When the clerk went into a back room to call police, the man ran off, police said.
The suspect was described as a black male 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, with a slim build and wearing a blue baseball hat and a brown jacket, police said.
