SHOOTING/CARJACKING: Southern District -- A 29-year-old
resident of the 500 block of Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena, Anne Arundel County, was driving his 1985 Oldsmobile in the VTC 900 block of Jack St. Wednesday night when a gunman forced his way into the vehicle. During a struggle, the gunman shot the driver in the mouth and shoulder and ordered him to drive off. In the 1200 block of Tompkins St., the gunman shoved the wounded driver out of the car and drove away. The motorist was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and was listed in good condition. The car, with tags BES 555, and the gunman were still being sought.
OFFICER ASSAULTED/ARRESTS: Western District -- Two brothers were arrested Wednesday and charged with assaulting Officer Urica Jennerette. When the officer was attempting to arrest the men for disorderly conduct in the 1000 block of N. Carey St., they allegedly resisted arrest and struck her. In addition to assaulting the officer, Larry Taylor, 45, and his brother, Lamont, 52, both of the 900 block of N. Carey St., also were charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The officer was not injured.
THEFT: Western District -- Police were seeking a woman who charged more than $7,000 worth of items on a relative's credit card over a lengthy period of time. The victim, a resident of the 2800 block of Parkwood Ave., discovered the unauthorized charges Wednesday when she was denied in attempting to charge items valued at $28.
CHURCH BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone entered the Emmanuel Holy Temple Church in the 1000 block of N. Fulton Ave. overnight Tuesday after breaking a door window and stole a 30-watt stereo amplifier, stereo speakers, a microphone, two brass candle holders, a clock and microwave oven, all valued at nearly $900.
SHOOTING: Eastern District -- A 19-year-old Essex man was walking in the 1800 block of N. Regester St. Wednesday when someone began firing a handgun. The victim was shot in the chest and left leg and was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
SHOOTING: Northern District -- A resident of the 3400 block of Mayfield Ave. was in the 900 block of Montpelier St. Wednesday night when he heard several gunshots and felt a pain. The man was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound of the abdomen and was listed in serious condition.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A VCR valued at $200 was stolen from a house in the 4700 block of Roland Ave. Wednesday.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered a house in the 2500 block of Guilford Ave. through a second-floor window Wednesday and stole a VCR and a video-camera, all valued at more than $1,500.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 78-year-old resident of the 1900 block of Sequioa Ave. was scraping frost off her car's windshield in front of her home Wednesday morning when two men, one with a silver-plated handgun, ordered her into the car. When the woman refused, the men stole her purse containing a small sum of money and fled.
THEFT: Northern District -- Police were seeking a man who stole 23 movie tapes, all reportedly valued at more than $1,700, from Blockbuster Video in the 5900 block of York Road Wednesday.
ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A known gunman entered a home in the 5400 block of Jonquil Ave. Wednesday afternoon and robbed the occupant of an undisclosed sum of money. Three other people witnessed the robbery and identified the gunman.
THEFT: Northwestern District -- Someone entered a car parked on a parking lot in the 6100 block of Reisterstown Road Wednesday and stole a camera valued at $300.
Baltimore County
STOLEN CAR: Parkville Precinct -- A woman was paying for gas at a service station in the 7300 block of McClean Blvd. Wednesday when a man got into her red 1995 Honda Accord with tags YLP 160 and drove off. The keys had been left in the ignition. The car, valued at $17,000, had not been recovered.
ROBBERIES: Towson Precinct -- Three women waiting at a bus stop in the first block of E. Joppa Road Wednesday night were robbed of their purses by two men. While one of the men acted as a lookout, the second man approached the women and demanded their purses at gunpoint. Both men fled, running north on Dulaney Valley Road.
CARJACKING TRY: Towson Precinct -- A 48-year-old resident of the 1200 block of E. Belvedere Ave. was about to drive off the parking lot near the Caldor department store in the 6300 block of York Road Wednesday when a man entered the car and ordered him to drive off. When the motorist resisted, the man attempted to start the car but failed. The man then exited the vehicle, a 1989 Pontiac Grand Am and fled on foot. Later, it was learned that the man stole 20 movie tapes valued at more than $300 from a Rite Aid store and was attempting to escape when he accosted the motorist.
