Two gunmen wearing ski masks robbed a Hanover store about 11 p.m. Tuesday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, county police said.
The men walked into the Value Food store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road just as it was about to close. They pointed automatic handguns at the store's manager and announced the robbery, police said.
One of the men led the manager to the office and forced him to empty the safe. The other made the store's employees lie on the floor and took a diamond ring from one of them. The robbers
then drove west on Route 175 in a red Honda, police said.
Crofton man charged in Pizza Hut robbery
County police arrested a Crofton man Tuesday night and charged him in the robbery of a Pizza Hut in the 1000 block of Route 3 North, authorities said.
A man entered the pizza shop about 10:45 p.m., pulled out a handgun, forced three employees into a walk-in freezer and made the manager fill a paper bag with cash, police said.
Darwin Richard Cook, 32, of the 1000 block of Route 3 North was arrested later at Evergreen and Jackson roads and charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and four counts of assault and battery.
