Outlook: TCU, which finished in a five-way tie for first place in the Southwest Conference, last played in a bowl in 1984. Virginia had hopes of a major bowl but settled for the Independence after losing its regular-season finale at home to N.C. State. The game will feature two of the nation's highly rated passers. Max Knake of TCU ranks seventh and threw a school-record 24 touchdown passes. Mike Groh of Virginia, who began the season as a backup to Symmion Willis, ranks 13th. TCU's Andre Davis is fifth in the nation in rushing (135.8 yards) but will face a Virginia team that leads the nation in rushing defense (63.6).
