A woman leaving Howard County General Hospital in Columbia was able to speed away when a would-be carjacker threatened her Saturday, Howard County police said.
Investigators said the woman was driving from the hospital's parking lot in the 11000 block of Little Patuxent Parkway at 4:10 a.m. Saturday when she stopped for a man standing in the middle of the road.
The man began to ask the woman questions, then put an object to the back of her neck and ordered her from the vehicle. The victim did not comply, but drove off and called police, police said.
The man, last seen fleeing across Little Patuxent Parkway, was described as a black male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing a loop earring and white Raiders starter jacket.
