* Charles Wells and Jacob Cost, two prisoners in the Carroll County jail, cut their way out last Saturday night and made good their escape.
Wells is charged with robbing the store of J.E. Evans & Bro., at Carrolton Station, and Cost with stealing a $10 gold piece.
They did the work in a way that no one would ever suppose an attempt at jail-breaking would be made.
The prisoners remaining in jail all deny any knowledge of the escape and say they were asleep. -- American Sentinel, Dec. 22, 1894.
