RESTAURANT INSPECTIONS

County Department of Health inspectors conducted checks of 172 food service establishments from Dec. 1-15 to evaluate them on nine safety and sanitary standards.

One Severna Park restaurant was closed for a portion of a day after inspectors found a condition that required emergency repairs.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 511 Ritchie Highway, was cited Dec. 12 for a sewage-grease overflow. The establishment was reopened later thesame day.

Inspectors cited 24 other food service facilities during the first two weeks of the month:

* Giant Food Store No. 75, 7900 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Pearl's Restaurant/Take Away, 1900 block of Forest Drive, Annapolis. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness.

* Royal Farm Store, 200 block of Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie. Food not adequately cooked/heated. Food not held at proper temperature. Re-inspection required.

* Valu Food, 400 block of Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Food not held at proper temperature. Re-inspection required.

* Legislative Services Building, 90 State Circle, Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature.

* 7-Eleven No. 11546, 600 block of Taylor Ave., Annapolis. Food not adequately cooked/reheated. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Eastport Clipper, 400 block of Sixth St., Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature. Re-inspection required.

* Safeway Store No. 1317, 1400 block of S. Ritchie Highway, Arnold. Food not held at proper temperature.

* American Legion Post No. 7, 1900 block of Crownsville Road, Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Roy Rogers, 1100 block of Annapolis Road, Odenton. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness. Re-inspection required.

* 7-Eleven, 1300 block of Odenton Road, Odenton. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Ocean City Fries and Burgers, Annapolis Mall, Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Casa Grande, 100 block of Jennifer Road, Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature.

* China House Restaurant, 200 block Main St., Annapolis. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 1000 block of Route 3 North, Gambrills. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness.

* Chick & Ruth's Delly, 100 block of Main St., Annapolis. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness.

* China Garden, Crofton Center, Crofton. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Denny's Restaurant, 2600 block of Annapolis Road, Severn. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness. Re-inspection required.

* Pennsylvania Dutch Farm Market, Annapolis Harbor Center, Annapolis. Food improperly cooled. Food not held at proper temperature. Re-inspection required.

* Popeyes of Fort Meade, 2600 block of Annapolis Road, Severn. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness.

* China Garden, 1200 block of Bay Dale Drive, Arnold. Food not held at proper temperature. Re-inspection required.

* Laurel Racetrack Kitchen, Whiskey Bottom Road, Laurel. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Kelly's Seafood Restaurant, Telegraph Road, Severn. Food not held at proper temperature.

* Paceway Convenience Store, 100 block of Solomons Island Road, Annapolis. Ineffective hand washing/employee illness. Impure/spoiled food.

Health department inspectors will re-inspect these six restaurants to ensure corrective action on non-critical violations:

* Jake's Steaks, 1300 block of Forest Drive, Annapolis.

* Chung Woon Restaurant Inc., 1600 block of Annapolis Road, Odenton.

* Pizza Hut, 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

* Morris Hill Domiciliary Home Inc., 400 block of Morris Hill Ave., Glen Burnie.

* Honey Bee Restaurant, 7300 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

* Sandy's Subs and Stuff, 7300 block of Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena.
