Pair accused of stealing three jackets from Sears

County police arrested two men Monday evening and charged them with stealing three team jackets worth $300 from the Sears store in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway, authorities said yesterday.

Northern District Officer Keith Light was patrolling the lot of the store shortly before 7 p.m. when he saw security officers chasing two men. He caught one of the men, and the security officers caught the other, police said.

The security officers told Officer Light that the men had left the store without paying for two Starter jackets, then returned and had tried to walk off with a third when the security officers chased them out of the store, police said.

Barry Kirk O'Donnell, 30, of the 1500 block of Cole St. in Baltimore, and James Homer Young, 35, of the 800 block of Oakdale Circle in Millersville were charged with felony theft, police said.

U-turn ends with drug arrests

County police arrested three people on drug charges Sunday night after a Northern District officer stopped a car for a traffic violation, authorities said.

Officer William Selander was on patrol shortly before midnight when he saw a 1991 Geo Storm with an expired license tag traveling south on Ritchie Highway near 5th Avenue. He reported that he stopped the car at Ritchie Highway and Kuethe Road after it made a U-turn and headed north.

Police said the officer smelled what he thought was marijuana and ordered the driver and her passengers out of the car. He searched the car and found two bags of marijuana and some rolling papers, police said.

Angela Maria Pasta, 18, of the 5700 block of Mineral Ave. in Baltimore, Bernard Michael Blackwell, 19, of the 2900 block of Lakebrook Circle in Lansdowne, and Colin Albert Jordan III, 18, of the 1700 block of Kirk Road in Glen Burnie were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

200 Christmas trees stolen at plaza

Thieves stole 200 Scotch pine Christmas trees valued at $3,000 from the Beltway Crossing Shopping Plaza over the weekend, county police said.

A man who sold the trees from the parking lot of the shopping center reported the theft to police at 7:40 a.m. Sunday. The thieves took them between 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.

Robbers threaten yogurt shop clerks

Two men robbed a Glen Burnie yogurt shop Monday evening of an undetermined amount of money when one of them held his right hand in his pocket as though he had a gun and threatened to shoot the clerks, county police said yesterday.

The men walked into the T.C.B.Y. shop in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway shortly before 8 p.m. When one asked for a sample of yogurt, the other thrust his hand into his pocket and ordered the clerks to give him money, police said.

Both men grabbed bills from the open cash drawer, ordered the clerks to remove the cash drawer and took more money before running from the store, police said.

The man with his hand in his pocket never showed a gun, police said.
