Two Anne Arundel County residents arrested, charged in theft of drill

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Two Anne Arundel County residents were in the Carroll County jail last night after Westminster police arrested them on theft charges over the weekend.

Police said two people are accused of arranging a scheme in which one person took a cordless drill from the Kmart store on Englar Road near Route 140, took it outside and gave it to the other person. That person went back inside to "return" it for cash.

Police said that Kmart security officials noticed the activity.

Richard Wayne Burnopp, 41, of Severn and Sharon Louise Bauer, 41, of Glen Burnie were arrested Saturday outside the Kmart store.

Police also said the vehicle the pair was driving -- a 1988 Econoline van -- was reported stolen from Anne Arundel County.

The tags were listed to a car from White Marsh, police said.

Mr. Burnopp and Ms. Bauer were being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
