2 men sought after robbery at restaurant

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Two men who robbed Busch's Chesapeake Inn Saturday night narrowly escaped capture when a Southern District officer confronted one of them at the restaurant's kitchen door, police said.

The men, both armed with rifles, entered the restaurant in the 300 block of Busch's Frontage Road just before midnight. They made several employees lie on the floor, then robbed them and the cash register.

An employee who remained out of sight during the robbery called police and hid near the bar. The suspects forced the other employees into a food cooler after the robbery, police said.

Officer Brent Weaver ran into one of the suspects in the kitchen, pulled out his service handgun and told the suspect to stop. The man slipped, dropping his .22-caliber sawed-off rifle and some of the money. He then ran out of the restaurant. Officer Weaver and another officer chased him but lost him in the woods.

The second suspect left soon after the first one and ran into the woods in the opposite direction, police said.
