County police arrested the victim of a shooting Sunday night after they found he was wanted on a fourth-degree burglary charge in Anne Arundel County and on a bench warrant in Calvert County.

Officers were called to a home in the 5900 block of Fifth St. in Deale to investigate the shooting shortly after 8 p.m. When they arrived, they found Donald William Sears, 42, of Kent Road in Sunderland, Calvert County, with a gunshot wound to the right forearm.

Mr. Sears told police he had been at the Happy Harbor Restaurant, a nearby tavern, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and had been in a fight before he was shot. He would not identify his assailant or provide any details about the fight.

Officers made a routine check and arrested Mr. Sears, who refused medical treatment, after they discovered the open warrants.
